Obviously this week's news regarding the cancellations of popular cartoons such as the Emmy award winning Young Justice and the just recently released Green Lantern: The Animated Series is still lingering among it's devoted fans.
Cartoon Network's press release indicated that both young Justice and Green Lantern: The Animated Series would not be returning after their current seasons end. Instead, two new series will take their respective places in the DC Nation hour block: Beware The Batman and Teen Titans Go! The Batman series will be a new animated take on the Dark Knight, featuring some of his villains from the comics such as Professor Pyg and Magpie. Teen Titans Go! echoes the return of the classic series and focuses more on comedy. I had previously questioned how these two shows would fit the time slot. Hoping for a different night when the shows would be aired, I didn't expect the immediate cancellation of the other shows!

Thanks for the memories Hal Jordan!
The only unthinkable reason that both shows got the axe were probably ratings dips. Given both shows' popularity on social media it's hard to believe the cancellation news. Young Justicewas highly popular and reached Batman The Animated Series levels of support and status. It's cast of young heroes and heroines was a refreshing and energetic take. Green Lantern The Animated Series was pure eye candy with it's CGI graphics and expanded the character's mythos for the Saturday morning crowd. The show made you forget about the mediocre movie. Fans got to see the Red Lanterns, The Anti-Monitor and members of the fabled Green Lantern Corps such as Ch'p, Tomar-Re and Kilowog. Who could forget the wonderful McDonald's Happy Meals Toys tie-ins as well.

Having experienced shows like Batman The Animated Series and Super-friends first-hand during my own childhood, I offer encouragement to fans and hope for the future with the new upcoming shows. Don't be bitter but show your support with Beware The Batman and Teen Titans Go! Shows like Young Justice and Green Lantern will always live on in our memories.
