Review: Wonder Woman Issue 12

It's Wonder Woman versus Apollo, as he insists on taking Zeus' abandoned throne. Who will survive the confrontation? What happens to Zola's child?

Writer Brian Azzarello continually brings nonstop action and excitement with each new Wonder Woman issue, since the beginning of the New 52 reboot. Rather than primarily focus on her origin, the continuing storyline has dropped subtle hints about her and her new supporting cast, leaving readers seeking out new details every issue. The series has been a emotional rollercoaster ride for readers as well, learning new details about her supporting cast, which may or may not have offended some, with the recent portryal of the Amazons. Add the amazing art by Cliff Chiang and Tony Akins, and you have one of favorite titles of The New 52.

In issue 12, we reach a milestone of the initial story arc, as it has been continuing for a year now and Zola finally gives birth to Zeus' child as well. The battle between Wonder Woman and siblings Athena and Apollo, is short but not to be missed especially when Chiang is drawing the scenes. Apollo is exactly like Zeus with his scathing treatment of Hera and I love Azzarello's portrayal of the Gods, as ready and willing to stab each other in the back! Chiang's visuals are a treat and say, is that The Phoenix Force? In keeping with his tradition of cliffhanger endings, fans should not miss this issue's last page!

Final Verdict: A
