Five Features From iOS 5

iOS 5 is on it's way. We examine five new features in the forthcoming mobile operating system.

Apple's upcoming iOS 5 operating system update for the iPhone and iPad has over 250 new features. We couldn't possibly list all of those but we've narrowed it down to five that we look forward to. The update is supposed to be available in the fall.

Camera
You can now use the camera straight from the lock screen. No need to swipe to unlock or type in your passcode, then find the app, wasting precious time! You can also press the volume button to capture the moment.

Messaging
Apple is launching a new messaging whereby iOS 5 users can send unlimited text messages to each other. Whether it's an iPad or iPhone, you can text another user with this new service, over WiFi and 3G.

WiFi Sync
The new iOS 5 update allows users to sync content over the air, removing the need to connect your device to a computer. You must have your device plugged in to a power source though.

Photos
More photo editing tools will be available with the latest update. Features like red-eye removal, cropping and re-sizing are just a few of many new ways to enhance your photos.

Airplay Mirroring
Video mirroring will now be supported in Airplay for the iPad 2. You'll need an AppleTV to accomplish this new feature.

This is a small sample of what's to come in iOS 5 and it's many features. Supported hardware will be the following: iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPad and iPad 2. Hopefully the ability to send multiple files via email will be added in a future update.
