You’ve downloaded some television shows on your shiny new Apple TV but want to transfer them to your iPad to watch at work? Yes, we’ve been in that situation too. Here’s how to accomplish that task.
Apple is slowing unleashing features of it’s upcoming iCloud service on it’s products. The latest Apple TV update allows users to redownload previously purchased television programs on any iOS device such as an iPad or iPhone. While we won’t see the full functionality of the iCloud service until later this year, the ability to redownload content is certainly a boon to users wanting to free up drive space on their iOS devices.
Using an iPhone as an example, go the iTunes app and locate the Purchased section at the bottom of the screen. There you will see a list of all the content you have previously purchased through iTunes. Choose the TV Shows selection for the purposes of this example. Find the show you want to download onto your iPhone then press the cloud icon on the right to begin. Your video will show up in your iPod library afterwards.
You can also transfer your music that has been purchased on iTunes as well. The same instructions similarly applies to the iPad. It is recommend that you install the latest updates to your device.
This new feature removes the prevailing need to store as much content on your iOS devices. Perhaps movies will treated the same in the near future.
Top post. It's not immediately obvious, but very useful. I use the same trick to transfer media from my laptop to iPhone.
