New 52: Animal Man Issue No. 3 Review:

If you missed out on Jamie Delano's horror-themed run on the original Animal Man series, then don't worry, the current issue provides more of that classic vibe. Animal Man issue no. 3 is probably the grossest comic-book I've currently read so don't read this on a FULL stomach!

Animal Man journeys further into the Red
Animal Man issue no. 3 continues the current storyline of Maxine Baker and her father's journey into the Red. Once inside, they both meet the previous incarnations of "Animal Man", also known as "Totems" who actually gave buddy his powers, through the aliens. A revelation is made about Maxine's further role. The situation is cut short though as the Hunters Three make their way into the Red and a battle ensues. Furthermore, the rest of their minions have arrived at the Baker home as well.

Cliff and Ellen make their escape
Overall, this issue provided a brief explanation of Animal Man's origin. You'll get new details on what will become of Maxine. Interestingly enough, her sibling doesn't get much attention yet. Perhaps he has a greater role too? The dazzling artwork of Travel Foreman will either gross you out or just delightfully overwhelm you.

The Good: A good story delving further into Buddy Baker's origin. What's next for Maxine?

The Bad: The otherwise awesome artwork can be quite terrifying at times. Definitely not for the young ones.

Final Verdict: A
