Review: Uncanny X-Men Issue 18

Past and present collide in this somber tale featuring dear old Scott Summers.

Writer: Brian Michael Bendis
Artist: Marco Rudy

Issue 18 serves as a perfect jumping point for new readers as Bendis essentially recaps past events in a confrontation with Scott and Kitty. That's not to say it isn't filled with much new material as tensions fly high in many scenes featuring our beloved mutants. This title has certainly had more dialogue than action-filled stories in the past, and issue 18 is no exception again, in the drama department. There's a handful of scenes that will tug at the heartstrings for sure, so get the tissue box out! Bendis makes a compelling case in presenting Cyclops in a different light, other than being the bad guy once again.

Scott Summers in emo mode!

While Rudy's artwork is an amazing contrast to Bachalo's and Irving's, it's easy for readers to get mistaken in what direction when reading the pages. Some guidance in the form of arrows would've helped but I found his work to be wonderful. Wouldn't mind seeing his work grace these pages again but it more organized manner.

Final Verdict: 8/10
