McDonald's WiFi

We usually frequent McDonalds for the free internet access and even the food. Until recently, our WiFi reception has gotten better.

Free public internet access is a godsend for those of us who constantly need it. While it would be nice if we could bring along our fiber optic connections from home, free is better than nothing. Although we should caution our readers that free internet access isn't necessarily secure. Casual website surfing should only be done at public places where internet access is offered.

TigerDirectMcDonald's finally decided to offer unlimited internet access at no charge, to customers recently. For the past two months, we've been using our iPhones to try their service during the peak dinner hours. Certain mobile versions of webpages were slow to display (these pages were neither image or application-intensive. We would often have to login again to their network. As AT&T customers we also wondered if we would receive "priority treatment" but alas, that wasn't the case either.

However, things have improved as of late and our wireless connection is decent if not outstanding. Those same mobile webpages load a bit faster now. Perhaps we can credit AT&T (who provides their service) for upgrading the networking equipment (Wireless N?) or maybe McDonald's own policies of allowing patrons to limit their stay for a period of 30 minutes.  Whatever the reason, we are pleased with the service and would recommend a mango smoothie while you're surfing the web. Let us know, if you've experienced the same improved internet speeds.
