iPhone Camera

The recent iOS 5 update for iPhones and iPads has brought significant new features to the iPhone 4 and 4S Camera. Of course it's no secret that apps like Instagram and PhotoShop Express most likely contributed to the addition of these features. Users will find new tools for editing, sharing and organizing photographs. We've gone beyond simple HDR features from previous updates as the new features allow for Red-Eye removal and easier social-network sharing. The interface remains relatively the same and it's simplicity won't confuse new and old users alike.

PHOTO EDITING

Powerful and simple new editing tools are now available for those who've ever wanted to fix red-eye issues with photos or manipulate photos altogether, right there on their iPhones. A new menu will appear once the Edit button has been pressed allowing for: rotation of images, auto-enhancement, red-eye removal and cropping. If you used the PhotoShop Express app before then this style isn't a radically far departure from that app.

We're wondering if Apple plans to release an iPhoto app that allows synching of photos and albums directly to one's library.

SHARING

Users can easily share their photos via email and now, social networks like Twitter. Furthermore, after selecting the Arrow button, a new menu will appear at the bottom of the screen allowing for multiple images to be selected. Previously, users could only email one photo at a time. Additionally, users are given the option of compressing images before sending the photos in an email.

The video mode also allows for easy uploading directly to YouTube. We wouldn't be surprised if video editing features were also added in a future update. However, iMovie is still a great option for more advanced editing needs with your movies.

Overall, the new additional features should aid amateur and even professional photographers even more, with their images. These are features long awaited and thanks to apps like PhotoShop Express, we're glad to see Apple finally improve the Camera's features significantly. While we won't likely see any photo or video filters for the time being, we're pleased with the updates.

  1. iPhone's editing tools were cool! I need not to use Photoshop for editing simple concerns on photos.

  2. So true! I don't think we'll be using it as much either!
