The Maps app has a great feature called "Directions" which can effectively get you to your destination. You can pinpoint your location then use "Directions" then type in an address which will guide you there. Rather than type out the whole street address, you can assign a Contact in your Address Book, perhaps your own relative, and it will automatically route the provided Contact address. In this case, it was me and you should take some time to learn this app to get you out of a jam next time you're on the road. You don't have to keep looking at the app while you're driving and you can simply write the directions down.
Someday, my wife will kick herself for realizing how simple it is.
