Review: Saga Issue 18

Writer Brian K. Vaughan ends the current storyline on a positive yet still devastating note, as physical injuries abound for our characters. Whats in store for Gwendolyn though?

Marko and Alana's time on the planet Quietus has been marred with so many tragedies, that I've lost track of the body count. No one leaves this adventure unscathed though as Vaughan brings more bodily injury than ever before! Unfortunately, he does save the worst for Gwendolyn - emotionally - though readers may certainly disagree if she suffers the most in this story.  It's hard not to feel sorry for her considering the nice spotlight she's received over the previous issues. Vaughan's "got you" ending during the tense final scenes between Marko, Alan and Gwendolyn, is one for the ages.  A new direction is teased at during the ending of issue 18. I've grown fond of this little cat-fight and reminiscing of past love, but welcome the new change and advancement. Perhaps Vaughan will revisit this ex-lover's spat someday again for a final resolution.

Don't get her angry!

Fiona Staples as always, delivers quality artwork consistently every month. The emotions expressed by characters will just tear at your soul in how she wonderfully depicts that fateful confrontation mentioned above.  The use of robust and vibrant colors by Staples certainly makes the latter part of the book pop out and come alive.

Final Verdict: 9.5/10
