NBA 2K12 for iPhone
UPDATE: Since our initial review, 2K Sports released the 1.2.8 update which improved the graphics quite a bit. There's still a few bugs concerning the announcers but overall the game is much improved since then.
Only a few setbacks mar this game from being a perfect basketball sim. Otherwise, NBA 2K12 is a joy to play. And yeah, that Jordan fellow is back up in here again.

Album Review: Psyence Fiction
Album Review: Psyence Fiction by UNKLE
Trip-hop fans will not be disappointed with UNKLE's debut album. It is a satisfying audio adventure filled with elements of rap, rock and electronic music. Featured guest stars include Mike D. of the Beastie Boys, Thom Yorke of Radiohead and others combine to deliver a superb barrage of eclectic sounds.
DJ Shadow delivers the goods with his turntablism and samples on "Celestial Annihilation". The track will force you to grab your old school Puma sneakers and start breakdancing. Catch Thom Yorke's haunting vocals on "Rabbit in Your Headlights". Another gem that will stir your ears with delight is singer Ian Brown on "Lonely Soul". Hear the sonic work of former Metallica member Jason Newsted on "Nursery Rhyme/Breather".
Final Rating: A+

DC Comics New 52: Too Violent?
The relaunch of DC Comics' line of comic books with it's "New 52" initiative has been quite successful so far, with many first issues selling out in stores based on our observations. The campaign of renumbering titles back to issue number one has driven collectors as well, to capture as many comic-books as they can, for profit and value someday.

Crackle for iPhone Review
UPDATE: Since our initial review, the Crackle app now supports AirPlay streaming straight to your Apple TV 2 model. Enjoy!
Who doesn’t like free movies and television shows? Crackle offers users the ability to stream movies and television shows. Granted, the selection is quite limited and that most of the movies aren’t new releases either. Despite these minor hindrances to your viewing, I found the app to be quite enjoyable. However, there is another annoyance that viewers may not like either.

REVIEW: Superman/Batman - The Search for Kryptonite
Written by Michael Green and penciled by Shane Davis, The Search for Kryptonite is a great standalone story for any fan of Bats or Supes. It originally appeared in 2008 in issues #44-49 of Superman/Batman and was reprinted in a collected edition a year later. The story is fairly simple - there's an unusually large amount of kryptonite on Earth, and Superman comes to the realization that in order for him to be what the world needs, he has to to rid the planet completely of it. He obviously can't do it alone, so Supes asks Batman for help in his search. But the task isn't as easy as the two men originally think, and there's plenty that stands in their way.
Unfortunately, the story is wrapped up almost too easily. I won't spoil the details here, but the book's final conflict is a pretty big one, and it didn't take much for our heroes to solve, with some help from the new Toyman and a random cameo from...Power Girl?? Despite this, the story is still good as a whole and definitely worth the read. The last page of the book is an eye opener and will leave readers thinking....what if?
The art is what I liked most about this book. Shane Davis's work is excellent. Seeing the DC Direct action figures based on his work is what made me want to check this story out. He draws a great Superman, and I particularly enjoyed his renditions of kid-versions of the Justice League (that Superman begins to see after being exposed to magically affected white kryptonite).
THE GOOD: A good story starring Superman and Batman working together. What more do you need?
THE BAD: The final conflict is resolved too easily.
THE ART: Simply excellent. I love Shane Davis's Superman. The kid-versions of the Justice League is an added treat.
FINAL GRADE: A-

The idea is actually one that surprisingly hasn't been done until now. Why not rid the world of kryptonite? And who else would Superman ask but Batman, the one person he trusts the most (and with the resources) to do it? Michael Green's script is a fun read. It's an especially good book for casual comic book readers, as there's no real continuity here, just a good standalone story featuring the classic relationship and characteristics of the Dark Knight and Man of Steel. Green's use of the dual inner monologue balloons of Superman and Batman really shows the readers how much differently the two heroes think and react to the situation. There's a great balance of action and story, and it's paced very well. I usually find myself putting graphic novels down after a few pages but I found myself wanting to continue reading frequently.

DC Comics Survey
I've been frequently using my iPad to read digital comics so I was surprised when DC Comics sent out a survey via email recently, mainly because I was user of their comics app. Actually maybe I shouldn't be surprised because it's a marketing ploy to gauge the new digital reading market that has sprung up as a result of the influx of tablet PCs. The apps really didn't take off until the advent of the iPad. I kept reminding myself how fun reading these digital comics would be on a bigger screen than my iPhone's minute display.

Philips Media Connect
Browsing at new televisions at a local store recently, I had to carefully read the features and specifications of each model. I had to distinguish between the 720p and 1080p resolutions and the number of HDMI inputs for each specific television. Of course, other models have USB ports and even WiFi capabilities.
I came across a Philips brand and noticed the sticker attached. Now read the sticker carefully then look at the laptop that accompanies it:
Steve Jobs R.I.P.
During "Parents Night" in sixth grade, I led my parents towards the computer lab to show off some of my new computer abilities. I forget what I did exactly but using clipart, I pasted a word balloon next to an image of Garfield the cat, with the words "Weekend Warrior". This was back in 1986 and it was done on a Macintosh. By then, Steve Jobs was ousted from Apple.
Looking back, it's amazing how the products he innovated and developed had a lasting effect on me (and the world) then and now.
Here's to you Steve Jobs, thanks for changing the world.

iPhone 4S
It's not too surprising that Apple released the iPhone 4S model instead of the much rumored iPhone 5. With the holiday shopping season too close to the 4S's actual release date of October 14, there was probably a grave chance that many people weren't going to be able to obtain one, if it was the iPhone 5. It's a given probability that the phone would've sold out instantly, leaving many empty Christmas stockings for those wishing to buy one. Of course, iPhone enthusiasts should have seen this incremental upgrade coming.
